
Alisa Weilerstein

Born in the States in 1982, Alisa Weilerstein was awarded the Lincoln Centre's Martin E. Segal Prize in 2008 for exceptional achievement. She was winner of the 2006 Leonard Bernstein Award and in 2000 she received an Avery Fisher Career Grant. She was selected for the ECHO (European Concert Hall Organisation) ‘Rising Stars’ recital series, and the Lincoln Centre's Chamber Music Society series 2000-2001. In 2000 she recorded a CD for the EMI Classics ‘Debut’ series and, in November 2009, was one of four musicians invited to take part in a classical music workshop and concert at the White House that included performing for President Obama and his family. Ms. Weilerstein, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was nine, is a celebrity advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
