Tamaki Kawakubo

Tamaki Kawakubo began her violin studies at age five in Los Angeles with Robert Lipsett. She went on to study with Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki at Juilliard Pre-College, and completed her studies with Zakhar Bron at the Zurich Musikhochschule. She was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant and an S&R Foundation Grant. She has appeared with leading orchestras including the Russian National, Moscow Radio Symphony, NHK Chamber, Yomiuri Symphony and Sinfonia Varsovia orchestras. Engagements in the current season include concerts with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Tel Aviv Chamber, and Tokyo Philharmonic orchestras, and recitals in the US. She is an enthusiastic chamber musician performing in a piano trio, a string trio and piano quartet. Her 2010-11 season includes concerts in Israel and Japan. She plays on a 1779 Guadagnini violin on loan from the Washington S&R Foundation.
