Israeli pianist Miri Yampolsky performed Prokofiev's first piano concerto with the IPO under Zubin Mehta at age 16. Since then she has appeared with the Jerusalem Symphony, Israel Chamber, Minz Symphony, Sinfonica de Valencia, Chicago Chamber, Johannesburg National, Cayuga Chamber and the Peninsula Music Festival orchestras. She won First Prize at the Jose Iturbi Piano Competition, Valencia, and also the ARDI Music Competition, Munich. An active chamber musician, she has participated in festivals including Tanglewood, Ravinia, Davos, Berlin Festwoche, Tucson Winter, Hitzacker 'Music Days’, Schwetzingen, Sessa ‘Musica d'Insieme’, and Salzburg. Her teachers include Hannah Shalgi, Michael Boguslavsky and Chaim Taub in Israel, Dmitri Bashkirov and Marta Gulyas in Madrid and Leon Fleisher in Baltimore. She received scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation between 1895-1996. Currently she teaches at Cornell University, US, and is co-artistic director of Mayfest - the Cornell International Chamber Music Festival.
